Framed Burmese Kalaga (Shwe-chi-doe) Textile — Riders in Medallions, Hand-Embroidered with Sequins & Glass, 45″ × 30.75″
$1,250.00
Kalaga (Burmese shwe-chi-doe) are highly embroidered appliqué hangings from Myanmar, perfected in the 19th century royal courts. Figures are padded and sewn to a fabric ground, then enriched with metallic threads, sequins and glass stones; scenes often come from classical theater such as the Ramayana (Yama Zatdaw) and Jataka tales.
